CICA Launches New WASH Project in Kohistanat, Aiming to Benefit Over 2,550 Households
Kohistanat, Saripul Province – The Canadian International Community Association (CICA) is proud to announce the launch of a new Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) project in the Kohistanat District of Saripul province. This ambitious initiative is set to positively impact the lives of approximately 2,550 households by developing comprehensive water supply networks and harnessing natural water resources.
Revolutionizing Water Access and Sanitation
This new WASH project, one of the largest in the region, involves the construction of three extensive water supply networks. These networks will ensure the reliable and consistent delivery of clean water to the residents of Kohistanat, significantly improving community health and quality of life. By addressing the fundamental need for clean water, CICA is taking a crucial step towards enhancing public health standards and reducing the prevalence of water-borne diseases.
Harnessing Natural Springs for Sustainable Water Use
A key feature of this project is the conservation and utilization of three natural springs in the district. CICA’s environmental engineers and water conservation experts will work on safely channeling and controlling the water flow from these springs. This sustainable approach not only maximizes the use of natural resources but also ensures long-term water availability for the community.
Community Engagement and Empowerment
Understanding the importance of community involvement, CICA is committed to engaging local residents in the project. This includes providing training on water management, sanitation best practices, and maintenance of the water systems. The project aims not just to provide access to water, but also to empower the community to sustain these resources effectively.
A Step Towards a Healthier Future
“We are excited to launch this WASH project in Kohistanat, which will bring essential water and sanitation services to thousands of households,” said Najiullah Ghazawi, Country Director of CICA in Afghanistan. “Access to clean water is a fundamental human right, and this project is a significant step towards ensuring that communities in Saripul have the resources they need for a healthier, more sustainable future.”
